Expat Favourites: Sundown Social Club New Owners Set To Give The Classic Bar A Fresh Twist

Sitting atop the popular Russian Market in TTP, Sundown Social Club has long been a solid spot to perch and enjoy the view over south Phnom Penh.

With second-to-none sunsets and a laid-back atmosphere to boot, it’s no surprise this venue holds a special place in the hearts of locals, expats and visitors alike.

Recently, this place has undergone a bit of a transformation and is under the stewardship of two long-term expats. Naturally, Cambodia Lifestyle had to find out more so we sat down with the new owners for a chinwag.

A Fresh Start with Familiar Faces

“Although the ownership is new, the team behind Sundown Social Club remains the same.,” they said.

“Led by the talented Sophorn, the bar and restaurant manager, the staff ensure that the venue continues to offer the same top-notch service.”

The new owners are instead focusing on enhancing the menu, organizing dynamic events, and implementing upgrades to maintain its reputation as a go-to destination.

“We refreshed the plants and replaced our signs, and we are planning further updates in the coming months,” they share.

“Our social media expert, Igor, is handling our marketing efforts. You might have noticed updates to our Instagram, Facebook page, and logos, as well as changes in how we promote events—more updates are on the way. Make sure to give us a follow!”

The Dream and the Journey

Sundown Social Club has been a community favorite for seven years and the new owners aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel.

“We aim to keep it a great spot for delicious food, refreshing drinks, and unforgettable music in Phnom Penh.”

Indeed, they’ve already hosted their first event under the new management, a lively gathering that showcased the venue’s potential as a late-night destination for drinks and dancing (which one member of Cambodia Lifestyle may have attended!).

“Looking ahead, guests can look forward to regular DJ nights every Friday and exciting monthly special events. We’d love to team up with local food, drink, and business brands to support each other, so please feel free to reach out!”
