Siem Reap named 7th best destination in Asia
Siem Reap has fallen from 2nd to 7th place in the 2024 Trip Advisor Travelers Choice “best Asian destinations” category.
The award comes hot on the heels of Angkor War being named the 12th best attraction in the world, as well as Angkor Wat Travel Tour (also of Siem Reap) coming 4th in the world for top experiences, via their “Small-Group Explore Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour with Guide from Siem Reap”.

Top 10 destinations in Asia 2024
The winner of the best destination was for the second year running the party island of Bali while Vietnam had a whopping 4 destinations in the top 10, namely Hanoi, Hoi An, Saigon and Da Nang.
Siem Reap though was not Cambodia’s only entrant with Phnom Penh just making it into the top 25 at 22nd place, surprisingly perhaps beating both Tokyo (23rd) and Hong Kong (24th).

What are the Trip Advisor Trailers Choice Awards?
The travelers choice awards actually contain numerous categories, with the Top Tourist Attractions in the World running alongside Top Experiences in the World, as well as a whole heap of other slightly more obscure ones.
They also grant regional awards, with the latest being for Asia specifically. Trip Advisor is considered the foremost travel review site, with inclusion in their Travellers Choice Awards being seen as a coup for those chosen. This is particularly the case for travel companies and agents, with awards based on reviews that they receive.
Therefore bad reviews not only come with a certain stigma attached, but in places such as Thailand can even leave you with a jail sentence.
