Preah Vihear, also known as Braḥ Vihār, is a province situated in the northern part of Cambodia, bordering Oddar Meanchey and Siem Reap to the west, Kampong Thom to the south, and Stung Treng to the east. Its northern boundary forms part of the international border between Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos. The province takes its name from the revered Prasat Preah Vihear temple, a prominent cultural landmark. Its capital shares the same name as the province, Preah Vihear.
This region is characterized by the majestic Dângrêk Mountains and the border with Thailand in the north. Preah Vihear is among the nine provinces encompassed within the Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve, highlighting its ecological significance. Notably, on April 15, 2016, Preah Vihear recorded a scorching temperature of 42.6 °C (108.7 °F), marking the highest temperature ever recorded in Cambodia.
Administratively, Preah Vihear is divided into seven districts and one municipality, further segmented into 51 communes.
There was previously a Cambodia Post VIP Van servicing this route, but it is no longer operational.
