Phnom Penh Gymnastics: The First Family Club in Cambodia

Meet Gechmuoy, the Cambodian mom who’s vaulting over barriers and cartwheeling into the hearts of families with her pioneering venture, Phnom Penh Gymnastics (PPG). As Cambodia’s first official gymnastics club, PPG isn’t just about teaching tumbles and handstands—it’s about balancing health, confidence, and fun for kids as young as three. With a focus on safety and skill-building, PPG is somersaulting into the spotlight as a must-visit destination for locals, expats, and visitors alike.

A Mother’s Vision for Gymnastics

Growing up, Gechmuoy always admired gymnastics but believed it didn’t exist in Cambodia. That changed when she became a mother. Determined to find something engaging and safe for her active children, she discovered a professional Cambodian gymnastics coach, Mr. Srorn.

“I wanted my kids to stay active safely, and gymnastics was the perfect answer,” Gechmuoy explains. “It’s not just about the sport; it’s about building a healthy routine and boosting confidence. Even with just a few hours a week, children benefit greatly.”

Inspired by how gymnastics improved her children’s balance, coordination, and flexibility while teaching them how to fall and land safely, Gechmuoy decided to share this opportunity with other families.

The Journey of Phnom Penh Gymnastics

Phnom Penh Gymnastics began humbly in Beoung Snor in late 2022. However, due to its distance from the city, it relocated to Toul Tom Poung (TTP) in August 2024. Since then, the club has flourished, becoming a hub where Cambodian parents and expats alike are learning about the benefits of gymnastics.

“At first, we had to explain to parents what gymnastics was,” Gechmuoy recalls. “But now, more and more families understand its value, and I’m thrilled to see the progress.”

Why Phnom Penh Gymnastics Stands Out

PPG is proud to be Cambodia’s first official gymnastics club, offering a unique space where children can thrive. With modern facilities, highly skilled coaches (all former national gymnasts), and a safety-first approach, PPG ensures every child learns in a fun and professional environment.

“Not only are our coaches experienced, but this also provides them with a career opportunity after retiring from the national team. It’s a win-win for everyone,” says Gechmuoy.

Cleanliness, safety, and an engaging curriculum are the cornerstones of PPG, making it the perfect place for kids to build confidence, strength, and social skills.

Why Kids Should Join

Gechmuoy believes that gymnastics is essential for children’s physical and mental well-being.

“It’s like going to the gym for adults,” she explains. “Kids need to move every day to release energy and feel good. After just one hour of gymnastics, they’re happier, more focused, and healthier.”

PPG’s classes are designed for children aged 3 and up, with a focus on making exercise fun and safe.

More Than Just a Gymnastics Club

“Phnom Penh Gymnastics is not just a place to learn gymnastics, it’s an opportunity for families to discover something new, make friends, and become part of a growing community.”
