Cambodia More Connected Than Ever: New Direct Flights Strengthen Global Links

Cambodia

Cambodia is soaring to new heights with an expanding network of international flights, making the country more accessible than ever to travelers, business professionals, and investors worldwide. Emirates’ recent announcement of its new Dubai-Siem Reap route marks another milestone in strengthening Cambodia’s global connectivity, offering seamless access to one of the nation’s most iconic tourist destinations.

Emirates Expands Its Presence in Cambodia

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has officially introduced a new route linking Dubai and Siem Reap via Bangkok, further cementing Cambodia’s position as a major travel hub. Set to launch on June 3rd, the service will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

According to Mohammed Al Qassim, Emirates’ Country Manager for Cambodia, the expansion aligns with the growing demand for travel to Cambodia, reinforcing the UAE-Cambodia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This partnership aims to boost trade, investment, and tourism between the two nations.

“The addition of a new route between Dubai and Siem Reap will ultimately support the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism’s vision to propel tourism development in the country, in line with their BUILD Plus 3Ds strategy,” Al Qassim stated. “We have noticed that Cambodia is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for passengers across our global network, and we, at Emirates, want to promote and facilitate that trend.”

The new service is strategically timed to provide optimal connectivity for travelers from France, the UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and Russia. Passengers can expect world-class service on Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER, featuring 35 lie-flat Business Class seats and 386 spacious Economy Class seats. The airline’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system, ICE, will ensure a premium travel experience with over 6,500 channels of international films, TV series, music, and more in multiple languages, including Khmer.

More Direct Flights Strengthening Cambodia’s Air Connectivity

Beyond Emirates’ new Siem Reap-Dubai route, Cambodia has seen a surge in direct international flights in recent years. The nation’s aviation industry is growing rapidly, enhancing its position as a major regional hub. Some of the latest additions include:

  • Phnom Penh – Manila (Philippine Airlines): Reintroduced in 2024, this route provides a direct connection between Cambodia and the Philippines, making travel between the two ASEAN nations more convenient.
  • Phnom Penh – Jakarta (Garuda Indonesia): Strengthening ties between Cambodia and Indonesia, this direct route facilitates trade and tourism between the two countries.
  • Siem Reap – Hong Kong (HK Express): This route revives direct access to one of Asia’s most significant financial and business centers, benefiting both leisure and corporate travelers.
  • Siem Reap – Singapore (Singapore Airlines): A key route for travelers connecting to long-haul international destinations through Changi Airport, one of the world’s busiest and most efficient airports.
  • Phnom Penh – Beijing (China Southern Airlines): With growing economic relations between Cambodia and China, direct flights between the two capitals serve as a vital link for business and investment.
  • Phnom Penh – Seoul (Korean Air & Asiana Airlines): South Korea remains a major source of inbound tourism to Cambodia, and these direct flights enhance travel convenience.

Why This Matters for Cambodia

The expansion of direct flights is a game-changer for Cambodia, not only boosting tourism but also facilitating business, trade, and diplomatic relations. With increased accessibility, the country is well-positioned to attract more international visitors, investors, and entrepreneurs. The aviation sector plays a crucial role in the nation’s economic development, and the latest additions to Cambodia’s flight network underscore the country’s commitment to global integration.

With direct flights now linking Cambodia to key global markets, the Kingdom is more connected than ever. Whether for leisure, business, or investment, international travelers can now reach Cambodia with greater ease, making it an even more attractive destination on the world stage.
