Burning Bright: Magik Glow’s Journey from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
Magik Glow is more than just a candle business; it is a community of candle lovers passionate about sustainability, relaxation, and positivity. This story began in August 2020, during the height of the pandemic. With schools closed and jobs suspended, the founder returned to their hometown of Siem Reap from Phnom Penh, bringing along a vanilla-scented candle. In the province, scented candles were a novelty. This fascination sparked a curiosity that led to experimenting with making their candles. Despite numerous setbacks and limited resources, determination and passion paid off. The first successful creation was a lavender candle, proudly gifted to the founder’s mother.
Since then, Magik Glow has grown from an online shop serving all of Cambodia to opening its first physical store two years later. It was a dream come true. What started as a solo venture in a small room has evolved into a team of three operating out of a cozy home/shop in Toul Tumpung, a favorite part of the city. The business is continually expanding, introducing new scents from around the world, and hosting candle-making workshops—some of which have already become popular events.

People have always been at the heart of Magik Glow. The company currently has a media intern who helps keep its social media fresh and engaging with trendy content, including aesthetic graphics and creative videos. At Magik Glow, concentration during working hours is emphasized to boost productivity and creativity, allowing the team to maintain a healthy work-life balance. The company also champions other local businesses, such as Green Lady Cambodia, which focuses on women’s menstrual health products. This spirit of collaboration extends to Magik Glow’s company culture, where everyone’s ideas are valued. Last year, an ex-employee suggested an iced coffee candle, which became a delightful addition to the collection. The upcoming Urban Collection showcases this collaborative spirit and genuine passion.
Magik Glow believes in the transformative power of scents. The company uses high-quality soy wax and essential oils to craft its candles, with signature scents like Lemongrass and Jasmine sourced locally. Magik Glow promotes environmental awareness and supports its community through sustainable practices. The store in the heart of Phnom Penh offers a peaceful retreat for customers to find their inner calm and bring home a piece of Magik Glow. Beyond selling candles, Magik Glow provides workshops for all ages, starting from 7+, offering three different types of candle-making experiences.
