Kampot: Aiming for Top Tourist Attraction Status with New Developments

Kampot is on track to enhance its appeal as a prime tourist destination with the launch of several exciting projects.

The provincial authorities have announced plans for a floating market and two new beach developments, inspired by the successful seahorse statue that has captivated both locals and visitors.

A floating market is set to become a unique feature of Kampot, promising a lively and interactive experience. This initiative aligns with the province’s strategy to diversify its tourism attractions, catering to a broader audience of domestic and international travelers.

New Beach Developments

The Kampot Provincial Administration is also focusing on developing two beach areas: one between the old and new bridges, and another between the new bridge and the railway bridge. These projects aim to enhance the natural beauty of the region and provide more leisure options for visitors.

In addition to these new projects, the administration is committed to beautifying the city through various initiatives. These include installing paving tiles in Dang Prek Park, adding water features in front of the old provincial hall, transforming the water sports field into a park, and organizing construction along the west bank of the river to establish roads and parks.

Kampot’s efforts to improve its tourist infrastructure have already been recognized with the prestigious 4th ASEAN Clean Tourism City Award in 2024. The provincial administration held a celebratory parade, highlighting its commitment to sustainable and clean tourism practices.

Environmental Excellence

Cambodia’s dedication to environmental excellence is further underscored by its three ASEAN Clean Tourist Cities Awards, awarded to Daun Penh (Phnom Penh), Kep, and Kampot City. These accolades emphasize the country’s focus on fostering clean and sustainable tourism, enhancing its reputation as an ideal destination for environmentally conscious travelers.

Kampot’s new developments and ongoing beautification projects are set to transform the city, attracting more tourists and solidifying its status as a top tourist attraction in Cambodia.
