Fiji opens to Cambodian tourists – what are the requirements?

Fiji officially opened its doors to vaccinated visitors from some countries on December 1st. It was one of the first nations in the world to full shut it’s doors to visitors at the onset of the pandemic.

Like Cambodia, Fiji’s economy traditionally has been heavily reliant on tourism. It’s primary tourism markets are visitors from Australia, New Zealand and the United States. It is well known as the home to some of the most beautiful and exclusive resorts in the world and as such, has massive appeal to global travellers.

Fiji is also the gateway to the island nation of Tuvalu, the 3rd lest visited country on earth and one of the first that will disappear should global warning not be thwarted.

How to get from Cambodia to Fiji

Getting there from Cambodia is not cheap, but is much easier than you might expect, with direct flights available from Singapore to Fiji, as well from Australia via Singapore.

Currently a roundtrip flight from Singapore to Suva, the capital of Fiji will set you back $2000+, not including your connecting flight from Phnom Penh. It is thought hoped these prices will improve when travel agents begin running package tours to the country.

Where else in Asia can I visit from Cambodia?

Asia has been one of the slowest areas to open despite many regional nations achieving high rates of vaccination. As things currently stand, the only two Asian nations fully open to travel from Cambodia are Thailand and Sri Lanka

Vietnam and Indonesia have both announced small sandbox programs but neither have announced plans to fully reopen their borders. China has also not planned any form of reopening. That is not expected in any way shape or form until at least Q3 of 2022 according to industry experts.

China announced a few months ago that it would not be allowing foreign visitors to the upcoming Winter Olympics
