Eco-Tourism Mission Undertaken by Journalists in Pursat Province: Hidden Flower of Cambodia

From August 16th to 18th, nearly 60 journalists from 37 media outlets representing Khmer, English, Chinese, and Vietnamese publications embarked on a three-day mission to Pursat province. The initiative, organized by the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ), aimed to shed light on the region’s eco-tourism potential and recent developments, positioning Pursat as a rising destination now known as the “Hidden Flower.”

This mission marks the CCJ’s fifth venture, following successful campaigns in Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Siem Reap, and Thansur Bokor Highland Resort. The mission’s goal is to promote Pursat’s natural beauty, along with its economic growth, including investments in electricity, a car assembly plant, and green space conservation.

CCJ President Puy Kea described this mission as a pivotal effort to bring attention to Pursat, once one of Cambodia’s poorest and most mine-affected provinces. By showcasing its transformation, the CCJ aims to attract both domestic and international audiences, driving tourism and investment into the area.

“We believe widespread media coverage can significantly boost tourism and economic development in Pursat,” Puy Kea emphasized. “This is a key step in revealing the hidden treasures of this province to the world.”

The CCJ plans to continue organizing similar press missions across Cambodia, hoping to secure ongoing support from both public and private institutions for the greater benefit of the nation.
