Champa Champa: Cambodian Homegrown Fashion’s Future?
Champa Champa is a unique KH fashion brand founded by Chhuon Champa, a passionate entrepreneur who discovered the joy of crafting fabric at a very young age.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by a love for fabric and a desire to create sustainable solutions, Champa started this business to provide people with unique, handcrafted alternatives to plastic products in Cambodia.
“I love to make something innovative and creative from fabrics.”
Growing the Dream
“From a home workshop, I started creating and selling, it just kept growing. I didn’t advertise, just posted on my Facebook page, people would just share, and others would contact and order.” As the craft products found their market, the business kept growing. “The plan was to create and sell a group of designs. Testing that, I proved that I could build a full business, people love the products.” The sensational organic growth led to stocking products in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh stores, before opening the brand shop in February 2023.
Since its inception in 2020, Champa Champa has seen remarkable interest from the Khmer market and tourists, the response to unique designs and quality craft has been overwhelmingly positive. This reflects one of the brand’s core values in its commitment to integrity and quality. The brand does not use plastics or leather, focusing on durable, high-quality fabrics, which helps give them a point of difference in the market.”
Champa designs every brand product, and all products are made by Champa or a small team of tailors, enduring no factory involvement, and the majority if items are one-of-one, due to the unique designs, hand-stitched patchwork, and hand embroidery, this commitment ensures that every item is unique and made to last. The Champa Champa brand shop in Siem Reap supports Khmer craft by stocking items from other producers, with hand-woven scarves, silk necklaces, hand weave hats, shirts and jackets, making the boutique store a perfect place for gift shopping.
