Cambodian E-Visa is back – what has been announced?
According to the Cambodia Government e-Visa site, ‘Cambodia e-Visa is pleased to announce that electronic visa certificate service ‘Visa T’ for tourists is now reopen for apply from 19 October 2021′
The price for the visa is set at $36 inclusive of a $6 processing fee, all of which can be completed online. Great news right?
What are the requirements for tourists entering Cambodia?
While many different plans have been mooted over the months, from opening only to package tours, to simply allowing vaccinated travelers like Thailand has, Cambodia has instead gone down the “reduced quarantine” route.
Tourists traveling to Cambodia will be required to quarantine for 7 days if they have been vaccinated, or 14 days if they have not. The extra special icing on the cake here is that tourists will be required to pre-book quarantine at a government-approved hotel to get their visa.
These include, The Marriot, Sokha Phnom Penh and Sofitel, with there not being any “budget” option for people looking save a few bucks on their quarantine digs.
Will tourists be coming back to Cambodia?
In short no, they will not – by keeping the 7-day quarantine requirement, as well as restricting potential travelers to expensive hotels will not attract tourists. It is though, without doubt, a move in the right direction and if things go well with Thailand’s reopening then maybe the government will decide to fully open to vaccinated guests.
