Cambodia scoops awards in TripAdvisor Trawlers Choice Awards
Angkor Wat has been voted the 12th best tourist attraction in the world, while a sunrise tour at the same spot has ranked the 4th best experience in the world. This is according to the prestigious 2024 TripAdvisor Travelers choice awards.
Trip Advisor is considered the foremost travel review site, with inclusion in their Travellers Choice Awards being seen as a coup for those chosen.
The Travelers Choice Awards 2024
The travelers choice awards actually contain numerous categories, with the Top Tourist Attractions in the World running alongside Top Experiences in the World, as well as a whole heap of others. These include Top Bucket List Exoticness, Best Cultural & Historical Tours in the world, and even best amusement parks.
The lists are created yearly and as well as tourists sites being honored service providers who receive good reviews are also honored with individual awards.
Top Attractions in the World 2024
Angkor Wat was the only Cambodian entrant to Top Attractions in the world list, but can be pleased to have made 12th place. The main tourist draw of the Kingdom saw almost 800,000 foreign visitors in 2023, a number that is expected to be exceeded in 2024.
And the award was noticed by none other than former premier Hun Sen who announced the award on his Telegram Channel. This was followed by a press release from the Ministry of Tourism which stated “The ancient temple amazes travelers from around the world with its magnificent architecture, luxurious sculptures and rich history,”
Some of the rest of the list might be controversial to some with the Empire State Building coming first, while the Gardens By The Bay of Singapore finished 8th. Amazingly these were the only two South-East Asian entrants in the top 25.

Top Experiences in the World 2024
Cambodia and indeed Angkor Wat were though to do much better in the top experiences in the world category which is aimed at individual providers. This saw Angkor Wat Travel Tour come 4th in the world with their “Small-Group Explore Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour with Guide from Siem Reap”, which starts at just $19.
According to the list the top experience in the world went to a tour in Porto, while the ‘All Inclusive Ubud Private Tour” of Indonesia came a respectful second. The Ninh Binh Highlights Tour of Vietnam was the final south-east Asian entrant at 9th place.
