Cambodia Lifestyle Joins Holiday Cheer Through Festive Giving Campaigns

As the festive season came to a close, Cambodia Lifestyle reflected on a meaningful Christmas 2024, during which it proudly partnered with two impactful community initiatives to give back to Cambodia’s most vulnerable. Through its involvement in the Santa’s Shoebox Challenge with Bay of Lights and the Box of Joy campaign with Oakwood Premier, Cambodia Lifestyle helped bring smiles, joy, and essential supplies to children in need across the Kingdom.

“We pride ourselves on making a difference in Cambodia and during a season well celebrated both in the Kingdom and my home country, we were really pleased to be able to get involved with these initiatives in partnership with the people behind them and especially for those benefiting,” said Tom Starkey, co-founder of Cambodia Lifestyle. “We will continue to help give back through initiatives like this, as well as incorporating ESG into our daily work to make sure we continue to deliver a positive impact in the Kingdom that has given us so much. Thanks Cambodia and Merry Christmas!”

Santa’s Shoebox Challenge: Sustainable Giving with Bay of Lights

Bay of Lights, a visionary development in Sihanoukville, took its commitment to community engagement a step further with the Santa’s Shoebox Challenge. This initiative, part of Bay of Lights’ year-round ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) efforts, provided over 100 disadvantaged children with shoeboxes filled with essential items, toys, and supplies.

The campaign, organized in collaboration with the NGOs Let Us Create Futures and Bomnong L’or, culminated in a heartwarming event at Summer Bay’s Beach Club & Cabins by Preference. Children were given boxes filled with items to brighten their holidays, and the event underscored Bay of Lights’ dedication to sustainable giving and long-term social impact.

“This initiative has really been a project of passion for all of our team, and see it come to fruition has been amazing.  We really cant thank the support from everyone who prepared a gift box and donated, it really did mean the world to the children during the holidays,” said David Dobson, Managing Director at Bay of Lights Entertainment.

“Final thanks, has to go to both amazing charity teams who never stop 365 days per year, you are real heroes to these children. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year for 2025,” he added.

Bay of Lights has been at the forefront of various community development initiatives throughout 2024. From promoting environmental stewardship through plogging events to fostering future leaders through education and sports programs, the development is committed to setting a new standard for responsible and ethical growth in Cambodia.

Box of Joy: Delivering Christmas to the Kingdom’s Most Vulnerable

The Box of Joy campaign, organized by Oakwood Premier and One Park, brought the magic of Christmas to the children of Sunrise Cambodia. For more than three decades, Sunrise Cambodia has been transforming the lives of orphans and vulnerable children, and this year, the campaign aimed to ensure that the festive season was a happy occasion for them all.

Community members were invited to purchase a gift box for just $1 from One Park’s sales gallery lobby, which they could then fill with new or lightly used clothes and toys suitable for the children at Sunrise Cambodia. To add a festive touch, donors were encouraged to decorate their boxes before returning them to One Park by December 22. The children at Sunrise selected the most festive and creative designs, with prizes awarded to the winning donors.

The beautifully wrapped boxes, filled with thoughtful gifts, were delivered to Sunrise Cambodia before Christmas Day, spreading warmth and joy to over 60 children in residential care and hundreds more who benefit from the organization’s educational programs.

Demian Jung, General Manager of Oakwood Premier, highlighted the significance of the campaign: “Together with One Park, we are delivering more than just holiday gifts – we’re delivering hope, joy, and support to children who need it most.”

Through these initiatives, Cambodia Lifestyle and its partners demonstrated how meaningful impact can be achieved during the festive season. By bringing together businesses, communities, and NGOs, these campaigns not only delivered gifts but also reinforced the importance of hope, joy, and generosity during the holidays.

As Cambodia Lifestyle looks ahead to 2025, it remains dedicated to continuing its mission of giving back to the community through impactful initiatives. The organization aims to further embed ESG principles into its operations, ensuring that its work benefits both the people of Cambodia and the environment.

“Thanks to everyone who supported these campaigns. We are grateful to the Kingdom of Cambodia for all it has given us, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to make a positive difference in the years to come. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” said Starkey.
