Community and Environment Shine at Art Exhibition Festival
The ‘Environment and Community’ Art Exhibition Festival, hosted by The NGO Forum on Cambodia, Anicca Foundation, and tiSamjort/artists, was a resounding success, bringing together creativity, cultural identity, and environmental awareness on December 13, 2024. Held at the historic Wat Norkor Bachey Krao in Kampong Cham province, the festival offered an inspiring platform for artistic expression, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue.
A Celebration of Art and Connection
The event showcased an impressive collection of works created by 15 to 18 artists, students, and community leaders from Kampong Cham, Stung Treng, and Kratie. These pieces emerged from workshops held across the three Mekong provinces, celebrating both local talent and the stories of Cambodia’s rural communities.
Festival-goers were treated to a vibrant display of creativity while engaging with the artists and the broader themes of cultural preservation and environmental resilience. Special guests, including representatives from the Khmer Arts & Community Culture, applauded the festival for its role in shining a spotlight on Cambodia’s rich heritage.
Workshops and Dialogue Inspire Collaboration
Two reflection workshops and sharing sessions provided a deeper layer of engagement, creating valuable connections between artists, community members, and professionals in the arts, tourism, and development sectors. These discussions sparked ideas on how art can play a central role in addressing issues like climate change and the erosion of cultural identity in Cambodia’s remote regions.
