CPL Weekly Round Up: Week 21

It was another weekend filled with goals and drama as both Svay Rieng & Crown win, Vishaka are plunged into crisis and Tiger surrender a two goal lead in the basement battle.

Vishaka is nowhere near ready to challenge…

Vishaka, who are currently sitting third in the table, lost at home to the ever impressive ISI D’ Angkor and the club’s hierarchy will be back at the drawing board tomorrow morning wondering what they will have to do to break up the monopoly of Crown & Svay Rieng.

Take nothing away from ISI, this was as impressive a performance as you can hope to see from a newly promoted team. Every attack looked like it could end up in the back of the net with Timor midfielder Jhon Firth running the show.

Narrow wins for the top two…..

Both Crown and Svay Rieng recorded home wins with Crown beating Tiffy Army 2-1 with goals from Neito & Yudi and Svay Rieng winning a seven goal thriller at home with Nagaworld. Going into the last seven games of the season these two are both guaranteed their place in the finals and will be joined two out of ISI, Vishaka, Boeung Ket, Tiffy Army or Nagaworld.

Boeung Ket won away at Prey Veng and continued their impressive form since the turn of the year and coincidentally with the return of Vatankha. The race has heated up and picking two from the five is anyone’s guess at this moment in time.

Two teams that won’t be fighting for anything this season are Tiger and Kirivong who played out a 2-2 draw at Hanuman Stadium. Nugent scored two headers giving the home side a lead at half time only to be pegged back with two goals in two minutes on the hour mark. Thankfully for both teams the incompetence of CPL and FFC means neither will be relegated but if rumors are to be believed we will be losing Tiger whom are going to be out of business cell soon.
