One more hour for party people – Phnom Penh Curfew extended from 22.00 – 03.00
One more hour for party people with the Phnom Penh Curfew extended from 22.00 to 03.00. A new government announcement has stated that while the Phnom Penh curfew will be extended from the 13th-19th August – we will get one extra hour to flex our party muscles.
From midnight of July 30th until today August 12th all dine-in was initially banned, as well as there technically at least also being an alcohol ban. While many particularly in the service industry had hoped April 13th would mark the reopening of everything the continued spread of the virus has led to a slight continuation of the ban, although with a few minor changes.

Really not all that much has changed except that where the previous curfew started at 9pm, the new one will start at 10pm, in short one extra hour allowed out at night, be it to eat, meet friends, or indeed party – to a degree.

Whilst the curfew has only been extended for a week the alcohol ban has been officially extended for a further two weeks. That’s right drunk people cannot be trusted not to spread Covid!
What about other parts of Cambodia?
The government have also decided to extend the lockdown in the provinces bordering Thailand as well as Siem Reap for another week covering the same period (13th-19th August).
All other provinces are following their own rules, which technically at least means that places such as Kep would make a great weekend getaway, keeping in mind that all social life ends at about 8 pm anyway.

Phnom Penh Curfew extended – when will it all end?
Sadly while the country has been vaccinating at breakneck speed it has not been able to keep up with the Delta variant which is now causing havoc throughout the country.
In short, this week will likley not be the last we have seen of Covid curfews.
