How long does it take for your McDonalds to arrive?

Bodega Fresh Fruits & Snacks promised next day delivery, I made my order on Monday and was due to receive my Cambodian Big Mac on Tuesday. My phone sadly remained silent throughout the day, making me wonder if it would ever arrive, then at 5pm the phone finally rang, my Big Mac had arrived.

It was complete with a cute note put onto a sealed package, from which I opened to find a Big Mac sealed in clingfilm and partially frozen. Not only that but even McDonalds ketchup had been thrown in for good measure.

This might sound a bit weird, but even weirder we had someone comment on our Facebook post that they would previously have one bought, given to a bus driver and delivered room temperature. We do not recommend this at all.

How do you prepare your frozen McDonalds?

This is the simple part, well simple if you have a microwave anyway (I do not), you reheat it for about two minutes or so and you have yourself a McDonalds!

The big question though is what does a Big Mac than has been frozen in dry ice, transported across a border and delivered to your door taste like, and is it worth the money?

The frozen McDonalds taste test!

We will obviously give our own two cents on this, but in the interests of being great journalists, we have also reached out to one other person that ordered from Bodega to see how satisfied they were.

Speaking to Khmer Nights Rowan Beard of Australia, who had ordered a Big Mac boldly stated  “That is a legitimate Big Mac and my first since 2019. I have now finally eaten McDonalds in Cambodia”.

And what did Khmer Nights think about it? A lack of microwave meant that we had to put it in the freezer and then wait a day before we could physically try it. So, what we were presented with was a fully frozen Big Mac! But again after just a few minutes in the microwave and it was ready to go. The extra day of waiting had certainly dented the quality, and the fact that three of us were sharing it did not help either, but we all managed to have our first double Big Mac since 2019! That is a heck of a lot of time to be without McDonalds

How do you order McDonalds in Cambodia and how much does it cost?

Bodega Fresh Fruits & Snacks provided their menu via Instagram, which we have happily shared for readers to peruse. Overall though prices range from $7.20 for fillet-o-fish to $10.40 for a Double Big Mac.

How does that compare globally? Apparently the most expensive Big Mac in the world is in Venezuela, where 8 million Bolivars will get you a “Big Cheddar”, which is what they call the burger there. In Thailand it would cost you about $3.50 according to the Big Mac index , so at $8.30 for a regular Big Mac this actually makes it the most expensive Big Mac in the world, kinda. The Vine on street 172 actually offer their own version of a “Big Mac” for $9, although in fairness it does come with fries.

And that is how you order McDonalds in Cambodia! How long will the fad last? Who knows, but for those inclined going without no longer has to be an option.
