Imported meat from India tests positive for Covid in Cambodia. Just when you thought you understood coronavirus and we were all either getting immured or the Kingdom would hit the heralded herd immunity up comes a plot twist.

Many of us think, though, thunk that Covid-19 was this airborne disease you got from drinking beer and not wearing masks, but in a plot-twist worthy of Z-Nation apparently dead animals get coronavirus too.

What’s the latest story?

Cambodian authorities have stopped five large containers of water buffalo meat imported from India after determining the shipment was tainted with the coronavirus, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Heath (MOH).

The MOH went on to add that 3 of the 5 shipping containers being imported from India had been contaminated with Covid-19.. The tainted meat would now be destroyed, as well as shipments from virus-strikes India being halted for the time being, despite the extremely good relations enjoyed by the two countries.

We don’t usually delve into Covid-stuff at Khmer Nights news, but thought we would jump into this one, in case you were thinking of burning down your kitchen and throwing out the refrigerator.

Have there been cases of contaminated food in other countries?

There have been cases in the UK, India, China and even plucky Denmark, so yeah corona contaminated food is certainly a thing.

Now while we would all agree that no-one wants to eat meat that has been contaminated with Covid-19, can you catch Coronavirus from a hamburger?

Can I catch Covid from food?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) You cannot catch coronavirus from food and this includes, meat, fruits, buts and even hamburgers. They go as far to say that fruit and vegetables are actually part of a healthy diet and should be encouraged. Real ground breaking stuff.

So why all the hullabaloo? In essence it is playing it safe, because in reality and particularly with variants in mind no one really has a clue about Covid-19.
