Featured match – Viskha FC 3 Angkor Tigers 1

Viskha FC 3 Angkor Tigers 1. This was truly a top of the table clash, at the start Angkor Tigers were top coming off their 3-1 against EDCFC, which you can read about here . Visakha on the other hand had started slowly, but with a recent 9-0 away win at Asia Euro United were starting to show their merit.

Former English Premier League (EPL) player Marcus Heber has been on quite the goalscoring run lately, netting 5 in their demolition of AEUFC and it was him that opened the scoring on the 14th minute, before adding a second in the 20th, both were classic big-strong striker target man type goals. If this was not enough he was even to have another two disallowed for offside before the teams went in for the break.

Angkor Tigers entered the match top of the league for a reason and certainly upped the tempo in the second half pressing Visakha and having a number of fairly decent chances, before Cambodian Phearath Long pulled one back in the 56th minute with an absolute stunner of a free-kick into the top corner. The Tigers then piled on the pressure and looked like they might score an equalizer until substitute Bunheing Reung slotted the ball home easily after a Visakha counterattack to end any chance of a comeback.

What does it mean?

In the end it was a true belter of a match, with there clearly being a bit of tension between the clubs. Not only were there 3 yellow cards, but the Visakha manager was lucky on more than one occasion not to have been banished to the stands. Angkor Tigers remain top, but have now lost their unbeaten record, while Viskha sit firmly in second with a game in hand. It might be too early to place bets, but as things stand you have to fancy Visakha to be in the running.

What stadium do Visakha FC play in?

Visakha FC play at the very impressive Prince Stadium. It officially has a capacity for 7000 fans, but it also currently being renovated, it looks a bit like a building site at the momeny, but in fairness a great time to do it – no fans. When it is finished it will probably be one of the best stadiums in the C-League, at least in my humble opinion.
