Flowers Nanobrewery: Unique Brews and Vegan Eats in Cambodia

Flowers Nanobrewery and Vegan Sushi Taproom are creating a little name for themselves in the growing craft beer scene of Cambodia. Founded by Yuki Aotani nearly a decade ago, the business has a bit of this and a bit of that, combining experimental brewing with an inventive vegan food menu, offering a second-to-none experience.

“We brew craft beers and run a taproom,” Yuki explains. “I wanted to start my own business, brew beers, and do it in a place where no one else was doing the same. For almost 10 years in Cambodia, sales have always been difficult. I lost all the money I had prepared. The only improvement is that we’ve gained experience brewing and serving beers and running the taproom.”

Despite the challenges, Flowers Nanobrewery remains dedicated to crafting beers infused with local fruits and spices, pushing the boundaries of what a small brewery can achieve.

A Unique Offering in Both Taste and Atmosphere

Flowers Nanobrewery isn’t just about beer; it’s about a complete experience. The food menu features vegan sushi rolls, burgers, vegetable pancakes, and dumplings—all made from scratch. The feel is enhanced with a curated playlist of bebop jazz, bossa nova, soul, funk, and rock, played through vintage JBL speakers.

“We have been brewing beers with local fruits and spices,” Yuki says. “No breweries brew as challenging beers as ours. And the food menu has been built up from scratch. We’re always playing good music in our very hidden alley location.”

A Decade of Brewing, One Step at a Time

“Sales are always very difficult, and profit can be minimal. But we do have a few fans who like our beers and understand our uniqueness.

This determination has allowed Flowers Nanobrewery to carve out a niche. The brewery now crafts custom-order beers for local restaurants and businesses while continuing to experiment with diverse ingredients.

“We can brew many different beers with different sub-ingredients,” Yuki shares. “No breweries brew beers as challenging as ours. A lot more experiments.”

A Community Challenge

Flowers Nanobrewery loves engaging with local community.

“We are absolutely unique in our business and products and so the community doesn’t understand us yet,” Yuki explains. “Many people do not know what craft beers are, or even the word ‘diversity.’ They often don’t have the money to try something different or new, and many are conservative about what they eat or drink. Unique food and drink are very difficult to be widely accepted in this community for many different reasons.”
