InterNations to Host First-Ever Entrepreneur Exchange Event at TRIBE

InterNations, the popular business networking community in Phnom Penh, is introducing a twist to its format for the upcoming event on October 19th from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. For the first time, attendees will be able to present their businesses through rapid-fire, two-minute pitches, followed by a dedicated speed networking session aimed at fostering new business connections. This interactive segment will occupy one hour of the event, which is set to last for three hours.

InterNations ambassador and event organizer, Tom Starkey, explained that the change comes in response to feedback from the community.

“We conducted a poll on our Telegram group to determine what our community wanted most from future events. While we suggested other options like ice-breaking activities and zonal networking, the opportunity to pitch and participate in speed networking was the clear favorite,” Starkey said.

“So, they spoke, and we listened. This month, we’re introducing a special one-off Entrepreneur Exchange event featuring these new activities.”

Understanding that not all participants may want to join the pitching or speed networking sessions, the event will also offer a breakout room for general networking.

“We know from the vote that some attendees weren’t interested in pitching, so we’ve organized a breakout space to keep the pitching and general networking separate, which has been made possible thanks to the fantastic venue at TRIBE,” Starkey added.

To raise the stakes, the best business pitch of the evening will be awarded a free article feature in Cambodia Investment Review – selected by its founder and editor, Harrison White.

He said, “We are always eager to support events that encourage business connections and community. This event is especially exciting because we can offer the winner a business article that will help promote their company,” White said.

The evening will conclude with a highly anticipated lucky draw, featuring an array of exciting prizes. Attendees will have the chance to win vouchers from popular establishments such as Hong Bao and Bai Sor, as well as Spa by Khmer Tonics and Hemisphere. Additionally, a free night’s stay at TRIBE Hotel and premium spirits from AusKhmer will be up for grabs, adding even more value to the networking experience.

The introduction of this new format reflects the need to keep events engaging and valuable for the growing InterNations community.

Tom added, “I’ve organized 20 events over the last 21 months, and the monthly nature of these gatherings means we need to innovate. It’s about maintaining what people enjoy while adding new ideas that enhance the experience.”

“We’ve done this by changing venues, bringing in new sponsors for our prize draws, and forming strategic partnerships, like this month’s collaboration with Cambodia Investment Review.”

The event will be held at TRIBE Hotel’s rooftop Hemisphere Bar, and will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, October 19th. Entry is $10, which includes a single drink, or $25 for free-flow drinks. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

This is an excellent opportunity for Phnom Penh’s business community to showcase their ideas, build new connections, and enjoy a unique networking experience.
